The Atlanta Hawks ended their short 2-game losing streak with a 137-132 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night. Trae Young had 33 points and 11 assists, while Dejounte Murray added 21 points. For the Thunder, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 36 points and Jalen Williams added 24 points.
The Hawks struggled to guard Gilgeous-Alexander, especially in the second quarter where he willed the Thunder into tying the game up at halftime 77-77. The Hawks bench made the difference in the 4th quarter as they were able to hold off the Thunder’s second unit and take the lead.
The Hawks are now one game above .500 at 25-24, good for 8th in the East and a potential spot in the NBA play-in round. Safe to say that the Hawks have been underperforming this season, but the team will look to gain momentum as we approach the second half of the season.
